UNDERSTANDING SEO

Before I will start with the On Page SEO factors I would like to explain a bit about SEO in general.

SEO is divided into 2 main aspects:
1. On Page SEO
2. Off Page SEO

Each aspect has its weight on the final rankings your site will get and you should know both aspects and how to optimize your site for both On Page and Off Page SEO.

I don't think anyone really knows what it the true weight of each aspect but it seems that the common ground is that On Page SEO is about 30% and the off page SEO is the remaining 70%.

There is no doubt that Off Page SEO is more important, but optimizing your On Page SEO can make your Off Page SEO link building campaigns much better, quicker and easier. What I mean is that if your site On Page SEO factors are optimized, than you will need less backlinks in order to rank as high as you would need if you did not optimize your On Page SEO factors.

It would be best to demonstrate this with an example. John and Mike are both creating a website surrounding a specific keyword that they would like to rank for. John is taking the time and optimizing his On Page SEO factors prior to creating any links while Mike is simply going straight for the link building process and not doing any On Page SEO optimization.

After a few days Mike is ranking high as he has managed to create 100 backlinks while John didn't create any links yet so he is ranking lower than Mike. After a few days John is starting to create his links and after getting 10 backlinks his site is ranking higher than Mike's, even though Mike has 10 times more backlinks.

The final result will be that for every one link John is creating to his site, Mike will need to create 50 to 100 links in order to get better rankings.

You can see many times that sites with less links are ranking higher than sites with a lot more links. This could be due to many factors but On Page SEO is one of the most important one, and it is one that you can control in a fairly simple and easy way.
